Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o for two significant events marking a major advancement in Kisumu’s blue economy. First, the County Government of Kisumu officially commissioned Kenya Shipyards Limited to construct six modern fiberglass boats, replacing traditional wooden boats and improving safety on the water. Further, five new fish landing sites were inaugurated to enhance accessibility and streamline transportation for the local fishing industry.
These initiatives, along with prospective projects such as a fish processing plant and a 46 km lakeside promenade, are pivotal to strengthening the blue economy and fostering regional cooperation, all under the Kisumu Lakefront Development Corporation (KLDC).
