The second day of the benchmarking tour of the Emali/Sultan Hamud Municipality staff saw them join the City of Kisumu Management led by City Manager Abala Wanga for the monthly waste decongestion exercise spearheaded by the department of environment. The team also toured the M-TAKA waste collection point and were taken through the waste recycling exercise
The routine exercise seeks to decongest the Maendeleo Market dumping area that private waste collectors illegally dump their waste near the Kisumu Bus Park. The team from Makueni led by their Board Chairman Anderson Matheka appreciated the effort that the City of Kisumu has taken to manage solid waste and their collaboration with private entities to make Kisumu a clean City.
They say their tour has been meaningful and hope to replicate the same in Makueni County.
