Kisumu Secures $750,000 AfDB Grant for Lakefront Feasibility Study
Kisumu has advanced to the feasibility stage of its transformative lakefront development project, following successful completion of city profiling and prioritization. The city has secured a $750,000 grant from the African Development Bank’s Urban and Municipal Development Fund (UMDF) to support a comprehensive feasibility study.

The study will evaluate technical, financial, and environmental aspects of proposed projects, forming a pipeline of bankable, climate-resilient urban initiatives. These projects will align with Kisumu’s Local Physical and Land Use Plan, County Integrated Development Plan, and national PFM frameworks.
Governor Nyong’o welcomed an AfDB delegation, led by Senior Urban Development Officer Mr. Babati Mokgethi, to discuss ongoing collaboration and shared goals for Kisumu’s sustainable transformation.
