ENHANCED SAFETY MEASURES FOR LIQUEFIED PETROLEUM GAS (LPG) DISTRIBUTION WITHIN THE CITY
The City of Kisumu, mandated to provide emergency preparedness and disaster management, hereby issues this public notice announcing measures aimed at safeguarding residents and businesses from the growing risk of gas-related accidents.
These measures seek to enforce existing regulations and enhance safety in the distribution of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) within the city. Effective immediately, the following directives shall apply:
- Licensing Requirement:
All gas dealers operating within Kisumu County must hold a valid Single Business Permit issued by the City / County Government. - Brand Exclusivity in Distribution:
Trucks and motorbikes used for gas distribution shall carry and distribute only one brand of gas cylinders. - Vehicle Branding:
All vehicles transporting gas cylinders must be clearly branded with the name and logo of the cylinder brand they are transporting, and must possess a valid branding permit issued by the City / County Government. - Operator Identification Badges:
Drivers and riders of gas distribution vehicles must have official identification badges issued by their brand owners. - Authorization from Brand Owners:
Prior to registration, all dealers must present a valid permit certificate from the legal brand owner authorizing them to distribute that specific brand.
The City of Kisumu will coordinate with all relevant stakeholders in the energy and gas distribution sector to ensure full compliance with these safety measures.
