City of Kisumu management led by City Manager and Board members this morning joined the rest of the country in marking this year’s Mazingira day, an annual event set aside by the state to promote environmental conservation and awareness in the country. This year’s theme is Citizen-Centric tree growing and environmental stewardship. The City manager was joined by students from various institutions in the County. Different stakeholders including Mtaka, Jamtaka, Madiaba, Miya Ywech, Kenoa, Great Lakes University and Kiwasco participated in the event. The City Manager urged residents of Kisumu to heed to the County of Kisumu’s Governor’s call to plant a tree every 10th of the month in order to achieve the 1 Million trees target every year for three years.
