City of Kisumu is set to benefit from robust support from the French Government through the French Development Agency (AFD). A meeting was held between the Agency’s team leader in Africa, Joachim Sgham, who was accompanied by Project Manager Marine Cecchi, and the City of Kisumu management, led by Manager Abala Wanga and his deputy, Charles Omollo, to discuss priority areas that the French team would focus on when they arrived. The meeting is a follow-up of an earlier one that involved discussions between Governor of Kisumu Prof Anyang Nyong’o and the French Ambassador to Kenya H.E. Arnaud Suquet, who was recently in Kisumu on September 6, 2025, to preside over the reopening of the Alliance Française and participate in the launch of the Food for Education school feeding program at Kanyamedha Primary School. While highlighting France’s commitment to cultural exchange and development in the region. The French team revealed their country’s newfound interest in assisting development projects in the Eastern region of Africa, a major shift from their traditional focus on Western Africa.
