On 19th September 2025, the Kisumu City Disaster Management Department, in partnership with the Kenya Red Cross – Kisumu Branch under the Africa Fire Mission Program, conducted fire drills and basic first aid training in Kadibo and Kisumu Central sub-counties. The safety sensitization targeted Aga Khan Primary School (475 learners, 52 staff), Kosawo Mixed Secondary School, and Rabuor Primary School (815 learners, 24 staff). The initiative focused on hazard assessment, emergency response, and injury management during fire incidents. Learners and staff were equipped with vital skills to enhance preparedness and safety in schools, fostering a proactive approach to disaster risk reduction across learning institutions in the region.
