To promote the City’s image through timely communication with the public, informing them of the achievements, values, and priorities of the city of Kisumu.

Mission:

To provide timely engagements: project a positive image, and position the City of Kisumu as the ideal City in the Region.

About The Department:

To achieve the outlined objectives, The city management must build trust and strong relationships with diverse stakeholders for mutual support. The City occupies a pre-eminent position locally and regionally and it is its desire to enhance its reputation as a world-class city and a centre of urban excellence. The Corporate Affairs department will work with all the Directorates and staff to promote the corporate image of the city.

The long-term goal of enhancing the image is to build a strong corporate identity and reputation that will open more business opportunities and enhance corporate support for the City.

The City of Kisumu is intent on building its reputation as a world-class centre of urban excellence in the face of emerging urban challenges by constantly reviewing its strategic plan and aligning its strategic objectives to the national development agenda and global development needs.

Together we can build an indisputable and reputable brand. The value of the city is in the image.

ROLE OF THE CORPORATE AFFAIRS DIRECTORATE

Provide leadership in strategic communications.

Provide leadership and support to the city’s corporate functions

Promote the image (reputation) of the city

Promote and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with the Government (National and County governments) and corporate Organizations.

Promote change and innovation through timely response to the needs of the city’s community.

Facilitate protocol services at the board and the city manager’s office

Advise on public policy and administrative matters.

Mr. Evance Alalah currently serves as the Director of Communication and  Corporate Affairs at the City Of Kisumu  In this role, he is responsible for formulating and implementing strategies and policies related to, Information, Communication and Corporate Communications.

He is a talented communications strategist who can lead projects involving multiple staff and is an adept writer and speaker who can navigate sometimes complex deadlines. He has more than thirteen years of experience from both the private and public sectors.

Alalah believes that communication is the biggest tool in change management and service delivery.

He has training in Public Relations and change management from PRSK, Leadership and Management from ESAMI, Protocol and etiquette and a Senior Management Course from the Kenya School Of Government
