Dr. Rose Olayo is a distinguished scholar with a doctoral degree in Community Health, a Masters degree in Community Health & Development and a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion. Dr. Olayo has over 20 years of professional experience in community and public health research, communication for behavior change, health systems and policy analysis, social mobilization & advocacy. Her areas of academic and research interest are in the field of Public Health research, Health Systems Improvement, Adolescent Sexuality and Health.

Dr.Olayo’s major scholarly contribution has been in developing a communication and health promotion model for adolescent sexuality education in Kenya as well as developing community based model aimed at continuous improvement of the health systems in Kenya. She is currently a Senior Lecturer in the School of Public Health at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST).

She is a member of various professional bodies including Association of Schools of Public Health in Africa, Consortium for Health Policy and Systems Analysis in Africa, Tropical Institute of Community Heath and Development (TICH). She also serves as a member in several school boards among these include Makini and CITAM Schools. Her other contributions include publication in scholarly journals and academic books.
