CPA Samson Obwanga holds Master of Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Nairobi, Bachelor of Business Administration (Accounting) from Maseno University and Certified Public Accountant (CPA- K). He is currently the Principal Partners of Obwanga and Associates which is a firm of Certified Public Accountants providing Audit and Assurance, Accounting and Controls, Taxation, Financial and Management Advisory services. He has previously worked as County Accounting Officer and Head of Treasury at the County Government of Kakamega, Accountant in The National Treasury, Internal Auditor and Accountant at Kisumu Teachers Sacco Ltd.
His areas of expertise include; Financial Management, Audit and Assurance, Risk Management and Compliance, Corporate Governance, Policy formulation and Advisory, Planning and Budgeting, Accounting Services, Business Process Reengineering, Management Advisory. He has served in Boards and Committees of; Migori County Assembly Audit Committee as Chairman, Member of Kisumu branch of Red cross, Member of Kakamega County Audit Committee and Technical Committees of; Disaster Management Technical Committee, Revenue Technical Committee, ICT Steering Technical Committee, Fixed Assets Technical Committee.
He is a member of ICPAK and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). He has served in the Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPAK) Committees of Practitioners Development Committee (CPD), Secretary and CPD Convener of Nyanza branch from 2010 to 2015, Co- Convener of Devolution Work Stream between 2014 and 2015, Co-opted Member of Practitioners Development Committee of the Western Branch of ICPAK. He is also a member of the Kenya National Chamber and Industry (KNCCI) Kisumu Chapter, which serves the private sector.
